School enrollment of the new first graders
Today was an exciting day for 34 children: their first day at school!
Equipped with colorful school bags and satchels, they went to Grüne-Aue-Schule today in the sunshine.
The day started solemnly with a beautiful church service led by Mr. Klümper and Mrs. Klee, in which the new schoolchildren received a blessing and kind words on their way.
Afterwards, the older second graders welcomed their new classmates with our school song "Komet" and a dance to "Körperteilblues". Some of the new first graders were even able to dance along! They also showed how much the older children were looking forward to meeting the new children when they lined up in front of the school entrance.
After a first class photo with their class teachers Ms. Elfert (1a) and Ms. Clemens (1b) and the class animals, Susi the butterfly and Betti the bee, the two classes walked past the cheering children into the school building for their first lesson, which they mastered brilliantly.
Meanwhile, the parents were looked after in the schoolyard by our support association.
Dear butterflies and bees, we are very much looking forward to spending many more wonderful lessons and school days with you, learning, growing and experiencing exciting things with you. We wish you a great start with us at Grüne-Aue-Schule!
A big thank you to our reading mentors!
We all know that:
Read ...
... makes life richer,
... Reading is fun,
... Reading creates knowledge,
... Reading stimulates the imagination,
... Reading gives you courage.
This is precisely the reason why we are looking for volunteer reading mentors. Our aim is to encourage our schoolchildren to enjoy reading, promote their language development and improve their reading skills.
Fortunately, four reliable and caring reading mentors came forward to read once a week with a small group during the 2023/24 school year.
Now it's high time to say "THANK YOU".
Thank you for your commitment, your time and your open interaction with our students!

Last day of school before the summer vacation
On July 5, the time had finally come: the first summer vacation was within reach. Naturally, the last day of school was used to play, dance, romp and laugh with the children once again.
The first graders were allowed to bring their favorite social game to school and play with their classmates in an extended play session.
During the break, there was a break-time disco that had it all. Of course, the balloons were not to be missed.
After such an exuberant break, the official part followed. The children received their first school report and were very proud - as were the class teachers. :-)
Unfortunately, the polar bear class had to say goodbye to a classmate who has moved to another town with his family. This was a sad moment for all the "polar bears", as the class will miss their classmate very much. The school community would like to take this opportunity to wish him and his family all the best for the future!
School trip to the LAGA site
On 27.06.2024, classes 1a and 1b went on an excursion to the LAGA site.
Once they arrived at the pirate and water playground, there was no stopping them!
There was splashing, splashing and splashing about and no child stayed dry! So it was bearable at 31°C.
As a surprise, there was an ice cream - donated by a parent from class 1a.
Thank you very much! That was exactly right!
School trip to Frankenhof
On the way to the picnic area, where we took a break for breakfast, we spotted numerous animals, including a stag with huge antlers! The children were amazed... "Wow!" said many of the children. They had never imagined a stag and its antlers to be so big!
At the end of the park, we finally reached the long-awaited playground. The children really let off steam there.
Exhausted but happy, we made our way back to the bus.
No wonder that one or two of them used the bus ride back for a little nap.
The conclusion of the children and teachers: Great! We should definitely do it again!
Getting in the mood for EM 2024
On Friday, 14.06.2024, the European Men's Football Championship kicked off and of course this had to be discussed at school. Many children were able to contribute their previous knowledge and explain, for example, which countries are taking part in the European Championship or which flags belong to the different countries... Afterwards, the children had time to work on the soccer booklet.
Great success at the Primary School Cup 2024
On 12.06.2024, the Stadtwerke Grundschulcup 2024 took place at the Fortuna grounds in Gronau. The new elementary school competed with a team - consisting of nine first-graders and one first-grader - against the first classes of the elementary school from Gronau and Epe.
After 5 exciting games, our team finally came out on top and achieved first place among all the first grade teams.
A great success for the team and the Neue Schule!
We are very proud of our little soccer players!
Congratulations!
Special thanks go to the coaching team, consisting of Ms. Klein and Mr. Zuber, who volunteered their time and prepared the footballers for the tournament in May. Thank you very much for your commitment!
Small artists - big impact!
In the week from 10.06. to 14.06.2024, the artist Mayo will be visiting the new elementary school. She will be working with the first graders to beautify our schoolyard. Three large panels will be designed by the children and attached to the huts in the schoolyard.
The aim is to make the previously dreary schoolyard a little more colorful and appealing. Guided by the artist, the children develop ideas as to which motifs should decorate the huts in the near future.
The first two panels were painted by classes 1a and 1b on the theme of "Grüne Aue". The third panel was designed by the OGS children on the theme of diversity in the world.
The results are impressive!
Thank you very much for your creative ideas!
We are already looking forward to seeing the panels in the schoolyard.
First games and sports festival at the new school!
On Thursday, 06.06.2024, the first games and sports festival took place at our elementary school. In sunny weather and in a good mood, classes 1a and 1b marched to the sports field at Laubstiege. Once there, the first graders first had a breakfast break while the teachers set up the stations. After a welcome and a joint warm-up to the "Sportinator Song", the children then moved on to the stations. Each team of 7-8 children was supervised by parents or teachers and guided through the course.
At the end, there was a big thank-you for all the parents who helped and a big thank-you for all the little athletes, who then received an ice cream to fortify themselves.
It was a successful first games and sports festival at the new school!
Visit from the Borken district dental health working group
On Wednesday, 22.05.2024, the dental health working group visited us. Ms. Sicking worked with the children in the first classes on dental health. It became clear that the children already knew a lot about teeth and dental health. After a joint work phase in the classroom, the children were then allowed to work independently on the topic at various stations.
At the end, each child was given a new toothbrush and the class was given a memory game.
Thank you very much for your visit, Ms. Sicking!
New play equipment for our school playground
In addition to a sand play area, the new play equipment for the school playground has finally arrived! Full of excitement and joy, the children used the play equipment for the first time. All the equipment was tried out straight away. In addition to the new school playground equipment, we were also allowed to borrow the yellow play garbage can from the St. Josef Youth Center until the summer vacations. Thank you very much for your support, dear team from the St. Josef Youth Center!
Now there's enough for everyone and from now on it's time for every yard break: On the play equipment - get set - go!
Insults are a thought fart!
Together with the trainer for non-violent communication and resilience, Mara Bojovic, the first two classes were able to work out how to deal confidently with insults and abusive behavior in three practice sessions. The children learned that an insult is a thought fart and praise is a gift. Everyone has a choice! Do I accept the thought fart or the gift or do I seek distance from people and situations that are not good for me? In these training sessions, the students learned to assess situations and were given strategies on how to react in certain situations.
Specifically, Mara drew a comparison with the animals:
Do you want to be like a mosquito - just annoying?
Do you want to be like a sheep - constantly bleating and complaining?
Do you want to be like a lion - strong and calm, because strength lies in calm?
The children quickly agreed: "I want to be like a lion and stay calm even in difficult situations!"
Finally, we worked on the fact that every pupil is important for the class community and enriches it.
Those were great days with Mara! We are already looking forward to continuing the project in the next school year!
A very special thanks goes to the Bürgerstiftung, which supported us financially and thus made the project possible!
Thank you very much! We were very pleased!
Rest and relaxation during breaks
A break in the yard is great! Exercise and fresh air are simply good for you!
For many children, the school break is the highlight of the school day.
However, there are also children who want to rest and relax between lessons.
In order to meet the needs of as many children as possible, we have thought about and organized two quiet breaks:
Twice a week there is a painting and craft activity during the break.
Here, children can give free rein to their creativity or simply relax with a coloring picture.
After the Easter vacations, there will also be a weekly relaxation program during the school break. Here, children can take a short break from everyday school life and enjoy the peace and quiet during a dream journey or a short meditation.
Break time disco
On the last day before the Easter vacations, the time had finally come!
For the first time, the school disco took place during the break.
Lisa Oude-Lansing had created a playlist with the children that resounded across the schoolyard from 9.40 am.
Children and adults danced to loud music and competed against each other. In addition to free dancing, there were also games such as stop dancing.
Even playing soccer to loud music was even more fun than usual. Children and adults were thrilled: we'd love to do it again! After the Easter vacations, the break disco will always take place on Fridays during the yard break.
Cooperation game
In the last week before the vacations, Lisa Oude-Lansing (school social worker) led a cooperation game in PE lessons. The schoolchildren were introduced to the following game with a short story about the class animals.
A large square was taped to the floor. For the polar bears this was the ice floe, for the elephants an oasis island. Places where the animals rest and come together. Now the space on the ice floe/the oasis island was getting smaller and smaller, because the floe was melting more and more and the oasis was getting smaller and smaller due to the heavy rain. No animal in the group should fall into the water, so no child should step over the markings. The schoolchildren decided together how much of the square they could give up. Then they all had to take their places and the game leader counted to 5. And lo and behold, despite having less space, no animal fell into the water. And in the end, three quarters of the floe/oasis island had disappeared!
The game was then discussed. The children reflected on what worked well and what didn't and where they worked well together as a class.
A great sense of achievement for class cohesion!
Youth traffic school
On March 18, 2024, Mr. Ewering from the youth traffic school visited the schoolchildren at the new elementary school. He came with a large van full of pylons, helmets, scooters and bicycles. And he also had a challenge in his luggage. He set up a large slalom course and for the very brave there was even a tilting board to cross. At the end of the course there was a stop sign that all the children had to stop in front of. Once all the children were equipped with a helmet and a bike or scooter, we were off... Although not yet. One thing was still missing and we learned how important it is to look over your left shoulder. Check once that the path is clear and then you're ready to go! All the schoolchildren really enjoyed riding their bikes or scooters and the challenge of the course. The anticipation for the next youth traffic school is great!
HELAU - We celebrate carnival!
On Thursday, 08.02.2024, it was "HELAU" in all classes.
On this day, the school was transformed into a carnival stronghold:
In addition to great costumes, good humor and loud music, there was also a sweet buffet during the breakfast break.
Many parents and children brought home-baked and bought treats to school.
Of course, the healthy breakfast was eaten first before the sweet buffet was plundered.
After the children and their teachers had spent the first two hours doing crafts and celebrating in their classes, a joint polonaise through the school building was on the agenda after the break.
The day ended with a costume walk on the catwalk and some games such as the balloon dance.
After this fun and crazy school day, everyone is now looking forward to the long carnival weekend!
Let the vacations begin with Christmas carols ...
On the last day of school before the Christmas vacations, the first graders invited their parents to an Advent caroling event at school. The children and their teachers had thought of a surprise for the parents: Each class recited a Christmas poem and made a Christmas present for the parents.
Class 1a presented the poem "Five Dwarfs" by Elisabeth Schmitz with their class teacher, Ms. Sibbing. The polar bear class 1b presented the poem "Christmas Wishes" (also by Elisabeth Schmitz) together with their class teacher, Ms. Borninkhof.
Finally, the deputy principal, Mrs. Borninkhof, thanked the parents for the good cooperation this year and said goodbye to parents, children and colleagues with best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a good start to the New Year 2024 during the vacations.
It's getting Christmassy at our school!
School is not only a place of learning, but above all a place of life. We see our school as a place of community and encounter. For this reason, all parents and guardians were invited to the school on 01.12.2023 to actively live community with the teachers, the educational staff and, above all, with the children and bring a little Christmas magic to the school!
Thanks to the program and the various entertaining activities that the school team had come up with, everyone got into the Christmas spirit and was able to enjoy the time together:
After Mrs. Foerster, the principal, had said a few words of welcome to the parents and children, Advent carols were sung together in the entrance area of the school. The singing was musically accompanied by Ms. Sibbing (guitar) and Ms. Opperbeck (flute).
Afterwards, the parents and children were able to split up into the various activities on offer in the school building:
In class 1a, jars were decorated for Christmas and Christmas trees were decorated with wrapping paper.
In class 1b, parents and children were able to make stars out of paper bags and design candles or stars using the oil technique.
On the upper floor, children were able to create Christmas garlands and make witches' houses out of cookies.
As a surprise for the hard-working children, several parents brought waffle batter to school and distributed freshly baked waffles to the children after the breakfast break.
Thank you to everyone involved who supported us on this day and helped us to enjoy a cozy Advent morning!
On December 1, with the support of many parents, we spent a whole day making candle jars, striped trees, garlands, witches' houses and much more to decorate our school. In art lessons, the children in the elephant class created further Christmas works of art.
Passend zun the topic of "The Apple," which the children were studying in their science lessons, the Gartmanns brought their apple press to school. They showed the children how to press juice from apples.
15.09.2023 School festival
On 15.09.2023 we celebrated our first school festival.
We started with a performance of the body part blues by classes 1a and 1b and, of course, with the joint singing of our school song.
There was a buffet with international delicacies, a popcorn stand and a bouncy castle. In addition, you could have your face painted or do handicrafts with the OGS staff at the handicraft and painting table.
The two classes organized various activities such as can throwing, bobby car races and an outdoor course.
"I enjoyed the face painting and the bouncy castle the most. I had so much momentum on the bouncy castle that I crashed into the wall and did a roll in the air.
I was made up as a flower girl and like a princess."
- Matilda, class 1b
"I would like the makeup table the most. I was made up as a princess. I also enjoyed the bouncy castle.
That's when I was able to meet my friends Aria and Matilda."
- Fairuz, Class 1a
"I had the most fun throwing cans. You had to try to knock over the most cans with a ball. For me, there was only one left at the end. You could win candy!"
- Bjarne, class 1b
"My favorite part was the bouncy castle, the can throwing, and the face painting. I was made up as a butterfly.
At the cake buffet I wanted a cupcake, a donut and
eat a piece of cheesecake. But then I shared with Fairuz and her brother and gave the muffin and the donut.
The popcorn from the popcorn machine was delicious, too."
- Aria, Class 1a
07.09.2023 Bread tins of the dairy Söbbeke
Today the dairy Söbbeke from Epe was with us and gave each child a lunch box with a healthy breakfast.
Thank you very much, we were very happy!
