Mein-Day project successfully completed with visit to Tafel-Gronau e.V.

From fall to Easter, the students at Grüne-Aue-Schule work in mixed-grade small groups on the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Various campaigns on environmental protection (e.g. upcycling, insect hotels, planting raised beds, giving away flower seeds, ...) and on care and health (e.g. visits to nursing homes) took place during this time. Planned, organized and implemented by children!

Other goals that were supported include the UN goals "No poverty", "No hunger" and "Quality education".

The children organized several fundraising campaigns (waffle sale at the Gronau building authority, donation stand in the entrance area of the Sparkasse bank, cake sale at the Gronau comprehensive school). The money collected was then donated to two aid organizations.

A portion was handed over to the aid organization "Fly & Help", which builds schools in developing countries. A video call took place between the children and a representative of the aid organization, who answered questions from the young donors and explained what their money could be used for.

The other part of the donations was handed over to Tafel-Gronau e.V.. During a visit to Tafel-Gronau e.V. last week, the chairman of the board, Manfred Lenz, showed the children around the premises and answered their many questions. "Our money can be put to good use here," the children concluded after the tour.

For six months, the pupils thought about how they could make the world a little bit better. In doing so, they not only helped others, but also surpassed themselves at times. "The pupils have grown into a close-knit community. Everyone involved at Grüne-Aue School agrees that this project is a complete success and should definitely be repeated! So next year it will be "My-Day: We want a good future for all of us and we are committed to it!"
