On Friday, September 27, a school party was held at our school. The occasion was our new school name: Grüne-Aue-Schule. The celebration began in the sports hall with the school song "We are a team, you are a part". Mayor Rainer Doetkotte welcomed those present and spoke about the importance of an identity for the school community. "Grüne-Aue-Schule stands for a new chapter full of opportunities and shared experiences," he emphasized. Marina Borninkhof, the vice principal of our school, also shared her joy at finding a name: "Finally, we have a meaningful name and a suitable logo". She emphasized that the new school name stands for community, diversity and sustainability. It is precisely these concepts that characterize our school and our school program.
After the name unveiling, the children and their families were able to enjoy a variety of experiences: whether face painting, making bracelets, building with large building blocks, a wheel of fortune or a treasure hunt - there was something for everyone. We were catered for by the international buffet, which was made possible by food donations from families, and drinks from the Friends' Association. The fact that the school festival was such a great success is thanks to the great willingness to support us in organizing it.
Once again, the importance of community and cohesion was demonstrated.
