On this day, lessons turned into an exciting nature experience for our four classes. We set off together in perfect weather. We were looking forward to a day full of movement, discoveries and community.
Our first stop was the pirate playground at the LAGA site. There we were able to fortify ourselves and play together.
From there, we then hiked on to the Arboreticum behind the old Lindenhof. In this small wooded area, we were able to go on a discovery tour and enjoy the shade. At the same time, our cooperation partners from the Dinkelaue Citizens' Association arrived, who have been accompanying the annual planting of the "Tree of the Year" here for years.
This year, the American Red Oak was planted in our name. We celebrated this in the official part, where we gathered in a circle along the tree path. Our school principals, Mrs. Foerster and Mrs. Borninkhof, welcomed everyone and addressed the chairpersons of the association. They shared interesting facts about the American red oak and gave exciting insights into the tree species in the Arboreticum. Our song "What kind of trees they must be", which we sang together, resounded throughout the forest. As an expression of our wishes for the trees there and for the colorful design of the forest, we laid down our brightly painted stones at the edge of the path.
Finally, we were allowed to try some home-made tree cookies baked by Mrs. Foerster and made our way back to school full of new impressions.
Special thanks go to the Dinkelaue Citizens' Association, the Gronau Citizens' Foundation and other companies that support this project, and of course to our pupils, who have once again contributed to sustainability with their interest and creativity.
