Construction Site Tour

Once there, Mr. Brunnert welcomed the representatives from the Grüne-Aue School, and together they headed to the construction site. Mr. Brunnert explained the individual steps of the construction process to the class representatives and described the materials being used to build the school building. He also described how the schoolyard will be designed and mentioned that there will be a large cafeteria. The class representatives listened attentively, asked questions, and took photos of the construction process so they could show them to the children in their classes later.

The class representatives had also brought some questions, all of which Mr. Brunnert answered: Will there be a soccer field, and where will it be located? Where will the classrooms be? What will the inside look like? Will there also be a volleyball court?

One question was on everyone’s mind: When will the new school building be finished? The answer—that the new school building is expected to be finished in the summer of 2027—did not satisfy the class representatives. The third-grade representatives, in particular, expressed their disappointment: “By then, we’ll already be at a different school and won’t get to attend the new, beautiful school at all.”

However, all the class representatives were thoroughly satisfied with the plans for the new school building, and they agree that it will be a beautiful school. To allow them to continue following the construction process, they were invited to another site visit after the fall break.
