The day began at 9:45 a.m. with a school-entry service led by Mr. Pawolka. This was followed by the official school-entry ceremony. Classes 2a and 2b delighted the new students with a short performance. After a welcome address by Ms. Borninkhof and a group activity to get everyone in the spirit of the Grüne-Aue School, class representatives from all the older grades offered their best wishes to the new students. Of course, we also sang our school song together.
Then came the big moment: The children were called up and lined up for the class photo together with their homeroom teachers, Ms. Sprakel and Ms. Weiß, as well as the new class mascots, the lion and the donkey.
To wrap things up, classes 2a and 2b formed a guard of honor through which the first-graders walked to the classroom for their first lesson.
During this time, the parents were treated to coffee and cake provided by our parent-teacher association and had the opportunity to get to know one another and discuss any questions or important concerns.
We wish our new students a wonderful, exciting, and happy elementary school experience at Grüne-Aue School!
