Following welcoming remarks by Ms. Borninkhof and the principal of the Johannesschule, Mr. Hunschede, the mayor—as a representative of the school’s governing body—two representatives from the Wittekindshof, the chairperson of the Johannesschule’s booster club, and the architects each addressed the guests. The mayor also presented a gift to the two school principals.
The rest of the program kept everyone active and in good spirits: Everyone could join in on a chair exercise session. Afterward, the Fairtrade Club from the Grüne-Aue School wowed the crowd with a choreographed dance. Things got competitive during the soccer game between the “Blue Lions”—the Johannesschule’s student team—and a select team of the representatives in attendance. The students emerged victorious with a 3–2 win.
Another special moment was the presentation of a symbolic key to the schools. Ms. Borninkhof and a third-grade student accepted the key on behalf of the Grüne-Aue School.
The new gym is also very important to our school: As soon as our new school building on Marschallstraße is completed, we will also use the gym for our physical education classes.
We look forward to bringing the new sports hall to life in the future, and we would like to express our sincere thanks for the invitation to this wonderful celebration!
